Our adventures in June, July, August & September

It has been months since I've posted anything, so here is an update....

June:

We practically spent the entire month of June getting our yard ready for lawn. I swear we raked our entire back yard more than I ever want to remember. It was a huge project which we were finally able to get finished in July.

My younger brother got married to his high school sweetheart! Her name is Natalie. They had planned on an outdoor wedding but unfortunately the weather did not cooperate & we had to move to the church. But it was beautiful!! I am so happy for them!! They are such a cute couple. They have a little boy together, his name is Carson! He is my favorite, which I can say since he is my only nephew.

July:

We spent the 4th at our annual camp out! It is so much fun to go and spend time with my moms entire family. This is something they did as young kids, we did as young kids and now my mom has started the tradition again and our kids are getting to enjoy each other!

We have grass!!! Which is so amazing considering it has been 2 summers in the works. I never thought it would be to this point, but I am tickled and so are the boys! Ryland loves that we are finished with that half of the yard and Ryker is thrilled he can actually go outside!

Ryker took swim lessons. He hated them the first day. He was the smallest and youngest in his class & did not like the other boys splashing him. He cried the entire time, which I could hear through the fence so I cried the entire time and felt like a horrible parent for making him suffer through this. But we took him back the next day anyway, which went a bet better. By the end of the 2 weeks he was splashing and dunking his head! I was so proud by the end of it all & yes I stopped crying too! ha ha
My birthday is in July and this year my mom did something special with Ryker. She took him shopping to his favorite store (the dollar store) and let him pick out anything he wanted to give me. Here is what I got...
~2 ice cube trays, a birthday girl hat, a stuffed duck, a toy cat, Swedish fish, a push pop ~ All of this in a "get well sick bag" that he picked too! I laughed so hard but it was so cute!

August:

We found out we are having another baby!!! We are totally excited! Ryker can't wait to be a big brother, but I'm not sure he knows what he is getting himself into.

We got to go to Lagoon for my dad's company party. I don't really care about Lagoon due to motion sickness but we took Ryker to kiddie land. I was slightly nervous about this because he had never been on anything like the rides there. But he had a blast which made it all worth it for me. I am happy when he is happy, so it was a good day! His favorite ride was the cars, which he rode about 10 times!

We also took a weekend camp out with Ryland's brother Ron's family. It was a nice getaway, but pretty cold for August!! Ryker had fun with playing with his cousins, riding 4-wheelers and cruising in the ranger.

September:

Ryker and I took a weekend trip to the dunes with my family. He loves the dunes more than anything. He had a blast playing in the sand and riding the scrambler.

Ryker turned 3 this month!!! He is getting SO big!! Ryland & I also celebrated our 7th anniversary! it's amazing we after 7 years we still like each other. Just kidding, he is such a great husband I couldn't have asked for better!

We also found out baby #2 is going to be a BOY!!!

The Innocence of a Child

My mom and I were in Tremonton visiting our aunt & on our way home we decided to stop by the cemetery where my grandma is buried. We had Ryker and Carson with us and we didn't want to get them out so we rolled the windows down and told Ryker we would be right back. We walked around my grandmas grave for about 5 mins. When we got back in the car and started to drive off both boys started to wave and Ryker said "bye grandma". My mom and I looked at each other and were like what??? So I quizzed Ryker on what he had seen since we didn't say anything to him about going to "grandmas" grave.
Here is how the conversation went:

me: Ryker did you see this grandma outside with me or another grandma?

ryker: another grandma, old grandma.

me: what did she look like?

ryker: pretty

me: what color hair did she have?

ryker: orange

(Notice the hair color in the picture below)

me: what color was her shirt?

ryker: white

mom: was she wearing pants or a dress?

ryker: a dress

me: did she come give you a hug?

ryker: no stand by this grandma

me: she stood by this grandma?

ryker: yes

me: did she come give you a love?

ryker: no, she waved at me.

*(now my grandma had the most distinct wave ever so..)

me: show me how she waved at you..

ryker: her exact same wave...

Yes we were both in tears about this point.

me: where did you see this grandma before?

ryker: camping and on the movie with Tami.
*We got back from camping Wednesday and this happened Thursday.
Do you have goose bumps yet? I sure did. What a neat experience I will never forget!

Love you grandma!!!

Yuma Trip

Ryker, my mom & myself went to Yuma to see my grandpa & his wife Elaine. The weather was WONDERFUL! What a nice break from the snow!!!! (Too bad it was waiting for us when we got home!)

We flew to Phoenix then had to take this little thing to Yuma... Yes those are propellers!!!! We about died when we found out that was our plane. It was so small it only had 9 rows! But we made it safe and sound.
One we got to Yuma we put on our shorts and went out to enjoy the retired life. Let me tell you I have never seen so many old ladies in bikinis laying out getting a tan. I almost had to laugh. Imagine your grandma in a 2 piece laying by the pool.. thank goodness mine wasn't one of them!

As you can see, Ryker quickly became very attached to my Grandpa. They were like long lost buddies. So cute! I think it was because they let Ryker play in the water fountain, something mom wouldn't do...

Here is Ryker by a palm tree. Just tall enough for him to stand under. (If you noticed the scratch above his lip, he took a pretty good fall and the cement caught him. Poor guy!)

My Grandpa has a grapefruit tree in his yard. Ryker thought it was the neatest thing to pick the grapefruit off and get to eat them. It is amazing all the fruit trees down there. They have lemon trees, orange trees and whatever else grows on them. It is pretty cool though, they look like ornaments hanging in the trees. And they are everywhere.

We had a great trip & had to come home sooner than we wanted to. I am so glad we went! I hadn't seen my grandpa in about 16 months so it was long over due! And yes, we had to fly on the mini plane to come home. However we almost missed the dang thing!! Lucky for us they were lenient because we had a child (phew)!! Thanks Ryker, we wouldn't have made it if it weren't for you!!

New Happenings...

It's been a while so I will give you the run down on the new happenings in our life...
*I no longer work! Now I get to stay home with my sweet boy!!! I am so excited for this new adventure in my life. I feel like as a working mom I missed so much. I am looking forward to all the fun times Ryker & I are going to have together.
* We are selling our home and will be moving to Evanston. Even though we have a lot of people that are unhappy about this, it will be nice to have Ryland home more. I am excited to have a new home and more space to grow.
(NO, I'm not announcing anything)

* The snow is falling and we are ready to get the snowmobiles out! I'm not sure who is more excited Ryland or Ryker!

*I am over half way finished with my invisalign!! My teeth are starting to look so nice! I have always envied my sisters teeth, & now maybe I will have a beautiful smile like hers!!

* We had a wonderful Christmas. We were definitely spoiled!!! By the day after Christmas our entire living room was full!! I had to box up toys just so we could put the new ones away!!! We are so blessed that our families do so much for us! Thank you for all the nice gifts we love you all so much!

This time of year reminds me how much we take for granted.. family, friends, jobs, good health etc. So to those of you I love I hope you know how special each and every one of you are to me. I'm sure I don't say it enough, but I love you & thank you for all you do for me!!!
Ryland~ I have to tell you how much I love you and how grateful I am for everything you provide for us. You make so many sacrifices so that we can have a wonderful life & I know I don't tell you Thank You enough!
Mom & Dad~ THANK YOU so much for all the times you watch Ryker. It is so nice for me to know that my child is in good hands. You do so much for us & I appreciate it more than you know!! Thank you just doesn't feel like enough! Ryker loves you both so much & so do for us!!!
It is a wonderful time of year to reflect on all the great things in our lives, but for me it is a difficult time of year as well.
It was just the 15th anniversary of my Grandmas untimely and tragic death. We all miss her so much! It's hard for me to believe that she has been gone that long. She has been gone longer than she was in my life, but I will never forget her. Her memory will live in my heart forever!
I am so thankful that she was such an involved part of my life so I have all my memories. I am also grateful my parents have been so involved in Ryker's life so he too can have treasured memories.

"Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure.

You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure."

Grandma~ until we meet again, I love you and miss you!!!!!

Fun night on the town

Last night we went to Layton to a pumpkin farm. Ryker must be a farm kid at heart because he loved it. He was running around having a great time. We let him pick out the pumpkins and I have to say he did a great job! All of them stand up nice and have stems. We also let him pick corn, which he loves and was so excited about. He even thought he was big enough to drive the tractor. Needless to say he wasn't thrilled when he had to get back in the car.
After we left the farm we decided to go get some dinner. We were on our way to Olive Garden when we passed Chuck E Cheese. Ryland suggested maybe Ryker would think that was fun, so we decided to give it a shot. And yes, Ryker had so much fun! All the lights and sounds from the games were so exciting even though he was too little for most of them, but he didn't care he was having a great time. He loved the "mouse" aka Chuck. He won exactly 74 tickets which was enough to buy 2 crazy straws, which I am positive he will love to blow bubbles in his drinks with.
We had such a fun night! Especially since we did it all on a whim.

I didn't get any pictures but I will post some of our pumpkins when I get them set out.
